Designer. Creative. Innovator. Planner.

Sri Lankan by birth, Californian by design. I am the best of two worlds, appreciative of culture, tradition and the classics while ready to move at the speed of light into the next.

Hi. I'm Chrystal

About Me.

I am finishing of my last year in San Jose State and graduating May 24th!

I am a full time student and I internship at a local non-profit art gallery MACLA. I am a creative person with versatile skills in photography, education and organizing. I created this hub to share some of the things that I have been working on.

I am passionate about art and the environment and have spend my senior year working on projects finding creative ways to solve issues in environment through art and art education.

More about me, and my life.

I am originally from Sri Lanka, I arrived here in December 1999, starting the New Year in New York city. The Bay Area was where my mom and my sister moved settled. My father was still living in Sri Lanka because he was a Colonel at the Sri Lankan army fighting a civil war for what seemed like an eternity. I would visit my father during my summer holidays and I could not believe how different the two worlds I was living in were. I was living in the Bay Area with everything I could ask for and more. My father finally re-joined our family after five almost six years apart and the war was finished two years later in 2008.

Going back to Sri Lanka every few years, I have seen my birth country growing and changing. My father has always encouraged us to be sustainable, recycle and not to waste (even food). This last semester in school has really helped me focus and take action on something that I have been passionate about, and that is finding solutions to the waste problems we face in our community day to day.
